Kayak trip Lake Superior Provincial Park, Ontario

Lake Superior kayak trip - crystal clear waters, pristine shores

Paddle the shores of Lake Superior Provincial Park with James Roberts, our lead guide and instructor. Just north of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, this park is home to rich Ojibwa history, rare wildlife and a rugged wilderness shoreline. Each night, after you set up your home away from home, enjoy a world-class sunset on a wilderness beach with your trip-mates and a driftwood campfire.

What you will see during your Lake Superior kayak trip

Travelling north to south, from Old Woman’s Bay to Agawa Bay, the sights are spectacular. Bald eagles soar over 300-foot cliffs, while Peregrine Falcons hunt and nest amoung the cliffsides. Swim in turquoise water and camp on phenomenal wilderness beaches, some sandy, some cobblestone, many with kilometers of no one but you.

Nature and history collide with a grand finale: paddling past the 35 or so Ojibwa pictographs on a 98-foot sheer rock face. This is an incredibly sacred place where for generations Ojibwa people have been coming to record their dreams and spirits in red Ochre.

Our Lake Superior kayak trip guide

James, our guide for all of our high-end, fully outfitted trips, has extensive training and experience to keep his group safe and within their comfortable zone. Equally important, he knows the best campsites, the hidden waterfalls, and where to hike backcountry. Plus he’s a great cook and fun guy to trip with. James is a senior Paddle Canada instructor trainer and also a certified guide.

Sea Kayaking trips on Lake Superior are inherently at the mercy of the elements. Some days are just better spent having hot chocolate and fresh baked brownies on the beach!  Wind days can also be spent hiking or honing paddling, rescue or rolling skills.
