Senja is an Island located in Northern Norway above the Arctic Circle. Senja is the second largest Island in Norway and is often refered to as "Norway in Minature" because is boasts most of the diverse scenery that Norway has to offer in one location. You will experience stunning sheer cliffs rising up out of the open ocean on the Northern and Western shores. The Southern and Eastern sides of the Island you will experience lower rounder mountains, with forests and rivers. As this expedition is in June and we are above the Arctic Circle you will get to experience 24 hr daylight.
For this trip we wanted to plan something that would give people the full Norweigian experience. Not only will you paddle in the Fjords of Senja Island but you will also hike some of the Fjells (Mountains) over looking them. While we will not be doing any technical climbing (a pair of hiking boots/shoes are all you need) the vistas are world class. We will also get to spend a day with the Sami people learning about reindeer herding and their traditional lifestyle.
Our group along with OSKC senior guides James and Dympna and our local Norweigian guide Roger will spend seven days hiking, paddling and exploring this phenominal area.
